Finding the perfect DCP roommates!

Hey y'all! Im so excited to be moving to Florida in 41 days!! The whole part of moving in is meeting your roommates. There are 2 different ways to go about this process:
  1. To go in the process completely blind and let Disney (or fate) pick your living companions for you
  2. Find your own family for the next 6+ months
If you choose the first option you don't really have to do much for the process until about 10 days before move-in day. At that point, Disney will send an e-mail with information to DORMS (the roommate email) and you will have to fill out a form with personality information and so on. You will need to do this as well if you pick/find your own roommates as well but there's another step I'm getting to in a second.

The second option is the one I went with. I'm sure there are other ways to do this but I will describe how I found my 5 other perfect beautiful ladies: Samantha, Tia, Terri, Katelyn, Allie <3.

After I got my acceptance offer, I was super stoked. I read a couple of blogs figuring out what to do next and they all said for me to find some roommates! I went to facebook and in the search box I typed in "DCP (enter arrival date here)". So for example I typed: "DCP August 4th 2014". There should be at least one group with the name of your arrival date. Depending on how early or late you get accepted there may be people who are looking for roommates. Usually you will see a "roommate survey" (see mine for example) floating around that you simply fill out and post on the page. People will be eager to talk to you and it is a GREAT way to meet new people even if you may not be rooming with them. Eventually you will find an actually roomie (someone in the same room as you) and you two will have fun finding more people to join your group :). You can either keep it just the 2 of you, or make it 4, 6, or 8 people total. The more people, the cheaper the rent! Anyways when you find someone you like or another group you like, you get to know each other and eventually become roomie soulmates! My roommates are an amazing group of people and I am so happy to be spending my 6 months at the DCP with them. They have a couple of messages they wanted me to put here:

  • Tia: "Imma sexy beast...I least I would like to think so.."
  • Samantha: "I love long walks on the beach, kisses, cuddles, and cute Disney movies!"
  • Katelyn: "Ohana means family and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten."

COMING UP NEXT:
  • Creating a "ON THE WAY TO DISNEY" playlist!

About me!

Well, let's start off with the basics. My name is Aelynn Rodriguez, and I live in the one and only Houston, Texas. I have lived here all my life and I have an 8 year old brother who I adore. This will be my first time doing the Disney College Program and I am sooooo excited. I currently go to community college but plan to be an education major and teach at an elementary school. I live at home and this will be my first time living in a place away from my parents for an extended period of time! I applied for the Disney College Program on March 6th, 2014 and got my acceptance letter March 16th, 2014. My move in date is August 4th, 2014 and I am scheduled to stay until January 7th, but am planning on extending my internship to the full year. I am so blessed to be given this opportunity to work for Disney. My very first trip ever was for my 5th birthday. Ever since then I have wanted to work there and now I get the chance to do just that! Well that is all for now, so c...

The Tips, Tricks, and Treats of the Phone Interview!

Hello everyone, it's me again! This blog will be talking about the Disney College Program Phone Interview! I will talk about helpful tips for the interview and some possible questions the interviewer may ask over the phone. Here we go! THE TIPS AND TRICKS First of all, you want to schedule your phone interview for a time you know for sure you won't be busy or doing anything. You will also need to schedule about an hour out of your day for the interview because it can last awhile depending on your roles. Mine, however, only lasted about 20 minutes. I did my interview at 9:15 pm, that way I knew I would be free from distractions and so I can prepare that day for it. I got ready and situated for the actual interview at 9:00 pm, because I read that they may call you early (they also may call you a couple minutes late), so I wanted to be ready. I sat on my bed, because that is where I feel most comfortable at. This helped me so much because I was in a comfortable environment t...

Getting Accepted into the Disney College Program!

Hey everyone! It's been awhile since I posted...but finals are finally over so I'll be free to do this more often! This blog will be about my acceptance into the program and what all you have to do for it. One note before I go into it...The August 4th arrival peeps hit double digits about a week ago and I couldn't be more excited for that date to come! As of today I have 89 more days . YAY! Back to the blog though :) First: After your phone interview, the interviewer will tell you to expect a response (either good or bad) within 2-3 weeks of your interview. This will seem like fooorrreevvveerrr. However, you will receive a response. I got my response within 3 days of the interview, however most people will have to wait at least 2 weeks. There are 3 different responses you can receive in the email: Accepted Denied Pended Accepted means that you are in the program and will need to proceed to the other steps which I will get to later on.  Denied means you...
